Education and Outreach

Ensemble Hesperi is dedicated to bringing Early Music to new audiences, and to introducing our Scottish Baroque music to the next generation through fun and lively educational workshops in schools and local communities. We have years of teaching experience in group settings, and we love designing workshops to suit different age-groups, and of course to fit in with existing school curriculums. We always bring our instruments to show the students - most of them will never have seen a harpsichord or wooden recorders before!
It's not all about the kids, though! Our latest project, 'The Pheasant's Eye' gives audience members of all ages and abilities a chance to join us on stage, dancing to our Scottish Baroque music. You'll be taught some basic steps in a pre-concert dance workshop by a Highland Dance expert, Kathleen Gilbert, and she will lead you during the performance to the accompaniment of Scottish eighteenth century jigs, reels and hornpipes!
This project will be supported by using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
