1st Prize in the LIFEM Young Ensemble Competition!

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

We're delighted to announce that we were awarded joint first prize at the London International Early Music Festival Young Ensemble Competition, alongside a fantastic vocal ensemble, Ensemble Pro Victoria. You can still watch our performance in the video above!

We had a wonderful afternoon in late October, recording our final live in the newly refurbished St Michael and all Angels Church, Blackheath. It was so exciting to play even to a very small audience of three judges, festival staff and the film crew! It was the first time we had performed together for several months, and perhaps the last time for a few months' more, so we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Our prize was £1,500, and a concert at next year's LIFEM festival, as well as mentoring from fantastic violinist Margaret Faultless. We are very much looking forward to working with the festival to plan an exciting programme for 2021.

On the recording day, the fantastic photographer Anna McCarthy took some brilliant photos of us, which we look forward to sharing with you. Here's a taster, of our harpsichordist Thomas Allery at work at the keys:
