our community

Community is at heart of Ensemble Hesperi’s musical life. We are fortunate to have enthusiastic and committed supporters across the world, who not only enjoy listening to us perform, but contribute to our many activities, and help us to bring historical music to new audiences. Although we have received funding for particular projects, we do not receive regular support towards running costs, and we rely on the generosity of those in our community, without whose support the day to day operation of our ensemble would not be possible.

‘Hesperi’ means “Evening Stars”, and we would be delighted if you are able to become a member of the Hesperi constellation.


Your help will contribute to our work in the following areas:

  • Artistic Development

    At Hesperi, we regularly create new programmes and projects grounded in original research, bringing musical stories to life for a wide range of audiences. Your support would fund research trips, long hours spent uncovering forgotten gems in libraries and archives, and the creation of new editions, as well as helping to pay for the hire of rehearsal space for us to learn new repertoire.

  • Education

    Education through learning and participation for all ages is so important to us at Hesperi. Your support will help us to establish connections with new educational partners, including schools and community groups, so that we can bring our musical world to those who have little opportunity to hear our music and instruments. 

  • Fundraising

    When we apply for project funding from grant bodies, application forms can be time-consuming and require research time and the preparation of media, including video editing. Your support would enable our team to apply for funding more widely for artistic and educational projects. 

  • Collaborations

    At Hesperi, we love working with others! We are so often inspired by the people we meet, and many of our artistic ideas involve collaborations with other artists, whether musicians in expanded instrumental forces, singers, dancers, visual artists and actors. Your support would help us to dream big and think outside the box in our future projects.

Friends Scheme

We have four levels of membership available, based on what you are able to give on a monthly or annual basis. All of our members receive the same benefits, regardless of contribution, as we believe that every valued member of our community is indispensable, just like every player in a chamber ensemble like Hesperi.
